Dewey
Roberson
May 7, 1932 — Aug 7, 2021
Marion
Graveside services for Dewey Roberson will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021, 10:00 AM at Liberty Cemetery in Linville, LA.
Dewey was born on May 7, 1932 and passed away from earth to his heavenly home on August 7, 2021. He was the owner of Roberson Welding and Well Service & Roberson's Catfish and Seafood. He served his country proudly and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Dewey had a big love for his family and was a friend to all. One of his favorite things to do was tend to his garden. He looked forward to summers where he could grow squash, tomatoes, peas and peppers for everyone. He loved to work. Burning welding rods, tending to his gas wells and piddling in his shop were his favorite things. At night he would sit in his recliner and watch TV for hours. He loved a good western or a wrestling match. Dewey loved to get out and drive his truck, particularly to Sonic for a good cheeseburger. He was always looking for someone to stop and visit with. Conversations with him were never dull and you can bet there was always a good laugh involved.
Most important was the love he had for the Lord and his family. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life for 63 years, a daddy who loved his kids, a father-in-law, a friend and a precious grandfather, "Papaw". He had a special relationship with all of his family members and was a rock for everyone.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Gaye Roberson; his parents Rufus and Alma Roberson; one son Gene Roberson; four brothers, Rufus "June" Roberson, J.B. Roberson, Donald "Punkin" Roberson, and Bobby Roberson; and two sisters, Betty Turner and Peggy Defee.
Loving memories will always be held in the hearts of his survivors: two sons, Dicky Roberson (Pam) and David Roberson; one daughter, Jenny "Lucy" Wood (Albert); nine grandchildren, Heath Wood (Michele), Heather Tucker (Mitch), Russell Roberson (April), Brooke Reeves (Roger), Janna Roberson, Kaylynn Roberson, Gerard Roberson, Ashley Roberson and Tony Roberson; eleven great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Heath Wood, Russell Roberson, Mitch Tucker, Hagan Hollis, Ryder Tucker, Sam Zimm, Jeff Ray and Gary Dunham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Dollar, Roger Stripling, Virgil Brantley, David Whittington, Tom Snell, Johnny Roberson, Tyrone McPherson, Jimmy Ormond and Leo Cook as well as all of the past employees of Roberson Welding and Well Service.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to three incredible caregivers, Kim Wheelis, April Fife and Mindy Lowery, as well as the staff at Arbor Lake Nursing Home and Union General Hospital.
*Due to the rising cases of covid-19, the family requests to please practice social distancing during the graveside service.
