Obituary

Graveside services for Deloys Jean Rateliff Rogers, 81, of Downsville will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, April 26, 2019 at Holmesville Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Whitman and Eddie Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Holmesville Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Mrs. Rogers passed away on April 22, 2019. Deloys was a native of Patmos, Ar. and a graduate of Hope High School. Earlier in her life she began studying for a nursing career, putting it on hold for many years as she married and started her family. Seventeen years later, she returned to school and received her L.P.N. License. She worked for 10 years before retiring. After her retirement, she and her husband opened Rogers General Merchandise Store in Downsville. Mrs. Rogers was an avid reader, an excellent cook and an accomplished piano player.

Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Cicero Rateliff & Noreen Dorman Robinson; one son, Malcolm Maurice Rogers, Jr.; one granddaughter, Amber Cox; and one brother, Jerry Rateliff.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 63 years, Malcolm Maurice Rogers, Sr.; two sons, Edward Dewayne Rogers (Terry) of Swansea, Ma. and Steven Wesley Rogers (Stacy) of Downsville, La.; two daughters, Susan Cox (Rickie) and Judy Taylor (David) all of Downsville, La.; five grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Julie Spillers (Jason), Adam Reese Taylor, John Reese Rogers, Hayden Stephens and Taylor Stephens; two great-grandchildren, Aidan Spillers and Natalie Spillers; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Taylor, Adam Taylor, John Reese Rogers, Hayden Stephens, David Taylor and Jason Spillers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel.
