Obituary

Funeral services for Dalila "Dee" Leija Newcomb, age 63, of Marion, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Farmerville Methodist Church, with Bro. Hank Hamilton and Bro. Aleck Nyegaard officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Dalila "Dee" Leija Newcomb, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a truly giving soul, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She fought like a warrior until the very end, showing strength, love, and grace throughout her journey.

Dalila was the kind of person who gave more than she ever took. She found joy in giving—whether through gifts to family or by helping strangers—and never wanted anything in return. Her generosity touched countless lives, and many who knew her experienced her kindness firsthand.

She had a deep love for her family above all else. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by those she loved, especially during family gatherings. She also had a special place in her heart for her dogs and for all animals.

Dalila was strong-willed and could be stern and stubborn at times, but those who knew her understood that came from her passion, her love, and her desire to care deeply for those around her. She was truly one of a kind.

She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Kevin Newcomb, with whom she shared 27 years of love, life, and cherished memories.

Dalila was preceded in death by her parents, Trinidad Leija and Jose Leija; her brothers, Jose Leija, Jr. and Mario Leija, Sr.; and her nephews, Carlos Joaquin Munoz and Amado Leija.

She is survived by her brothers, Remigio Leija; Amado Leija (Patty); and David Leija (Bertha); her sister, Hortencia Wardlow; her sister-in-law, Petra Leija; her children, Dale Dupree, Jr. and Amber Edwards; and her beloved grandchildren, Piper Dupree, Austin Dupree, Cali Valenzuela, Tristin Mayhall, and Iszabella Rodriguez, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Javier Leija, Remigio Leija, Jr., David Leija, Jr., Joey Leija, Mario Leija, Jr., Art Alaniz, and Austin Dupree.

Dalila will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with her loved ones in heaven.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and Friday, April 24, 2026, at Farrar Funeral Home. An additional visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Farmerville Methodist Church.
