Obituary

A funeral service for Mr. Charles Ernest Savage, 91, of Farmerville, La., will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, 10:00 AM at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville, La. Internment will follow at Liberty Hill-Taylor Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Bro. Andy Allred.

Charlie Boy was born on October 9, 1929 and passed away on September 5, 2021. Charles loved sharing stories about his boyhood days, pipelining and baseball. He worked in pipeline construction for over 55 years where he was a pipe foreman and spacer.  He helped construct pipelines all over the world, including Thailand, Germany, Alaska, and almost every state in the U.S. He loved working at his farm, The Ponderosa, raising cattle and baling hay. Charles was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He will be deeply missed by his family and all those who loved him.

Mr. Savage is preceded in death by: his first wife and mother of his children, Elsie Mae Hayes Savage; his father, Clifton E. Savage; his mother, Kathleen Savage Taylor; his step-father, Gordon Taylor; his brothers, Rupert Savage and George Allen "Pete" Taylor; his sister-in-law, Martha Taylor; and his brother-in-law, Jesse Giddens.

Survivors include: his wife, Patricia Brantley Savage and her children, Paula Porter and Lanny Brantley; Charles' children, Johnny Savage (Gayle) and Brenda Savage Porch (Cliff); sister, Faye Giddens; brothers, Robert Taylor (Debbie) and Joel Taylor (Jamie); six grandchildren; Brad Porch, Ben Porch (Elissa Kyle), Amy Edwards (Judd), John David Savage (Meghan), Laura Anderson (Rick) and Catherine Coltson (Jacob); ten great grandchildren; Ellie Mae Edwards, Charleston Edwards, Georgia Edwards, Brodie Savage, Briggs Savage, Maddy Savage, Sydney Anderson, Davis Anderson, Chaz Anderson and Hayes Coltson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be: Robert Taylor, Joel Taylor, Cliff Porch, Brad Porch, Ben Porch, John David Savage, Brodie Savage and Briggs Savage.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville, La.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of the Chateaus at Montclair in Shreveport, La. and Southern Care Hospice for their excellent and loving care.

Memorial donations may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
