Graveside services for Charlene Kennedy Kozlowski, 89, of New York (formerly of Farmerville) will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Conway Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville. Charlene succumbed to a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer on December 29, 2016 in Sidney, New York.

Charlene was born and raised in Farmerville, but after marrying her husband, moved to Sidney, New York. She was proud of her Southern roots and was always tickled when someone asked if she was from the south. Throughout her life she held on to her Louisiana drawl. Charlene met Isadore Kozlowski in 1946 and they married on January 4, 1947. The couple took an extended honeymoon and traveled out west and back, eventually settling in Uniondale, PA to raise their family. In 1961 they moved to Sidney, New York. Charlene was a homemaker, gardener, and a wonderful cook. Her signature dishes were southern fried chicken and chicken with cornbread dressing. She loved to go shopping, had a deep appreciation for nature and gardening. She spent many evenings outside watching birds, rabbits, and squirrels in her yard.

Charlene was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Isadore Kozlowski. She was his caregiver for 9 years following his stroke. She was also predeceased by her parents: James & Ada Kennedy; sister, Faye Saterfiel, and brothers: Perry "Toad" Kennedy, James Egbert "Babe" Kennedy, Graham Kennedy, Glendelle "Buddy" Kennedy, and Oral Lee Kennedy.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Steve & Cheryl Kozlowski of Bainbridge and Christine & Tom Lieb of Bainbridge; 4 grandchildren: Kim & Travis Ives of Sidney, Jinnie & Magnus Erhardt of Brooklyn, Kelsey Lieb of Brooklyn and Dustin Lieb of Sidney; great grandchildren: Dillon Ives of Sidney, and Astrid and Jesper Erhardt of Brooklyn; 1 sister-in-law, Lou Quincy Kennedy of Farmerville; nieces: Sharon Knox of Calhoun and Paula Knox of West Monroe.
