Obituary

Carol Anne Hageman Simpson, born April 16, 1935, to Ed and Willard Hageman, passed away April 7, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Bernice Methodist Church with Bro. Reagan Colvin officiating. Interment will follow at Bernice City Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Carol Anne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was marked by quiet strength, steady love, and deep commitment to her family.  She shared a strong partnership with her husband, Ira T. Simpson, who preceded her in death in July, 2025.

She earned a degree in Education from LaTech and continued her education to ultimately earn her Masters+30. She dedicated 48 years to teaching high school English, shaping the lives of countless students through her passion for education.

She was known as "Omi" to her granddaughter and great-grandchildren - a name spoken with deep affection and love. She was a constant source of comfort and stability to her family.

Carol Anne created a lifetime of memories filled with love, laughter, and a deep sense of home. She had a deep love for dogs, who brought her constant companionship and joy.

She is survived by her son, Joe Simpson and wife Lisa; granddaughter, Audri McCready and husband Tim; her great-granddaughters, Morgan Farrar and husband Beau, Molli McCready, Madison McCready, and Mallory McCready; brother, Bill Hageman and wife Geralyn; sister-in-law, Earline Evans and husband Mike; son-in-law; Danny (Bo) Barmore; step grandchildren, Jeremy Hermes and April Hermes Daaboul; step great-granddaughters, Isabelle Daaboul, Emma Daaboul, Grace Daaboul, and Eve Daaboul; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Ira Simpson; daughter, Juli Simpson Barmore; sister Rosemary Pratt; and her parents.

Carol Anne's legacy lives on in the many lives she touched - in both the classroom and within her family.  She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tim McCready, John Pesnell, Mickey Murphey, Mike Evans, and Phillip Flurry.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM, prior to the service, at Bernice Methodist Church, Thursday, April 9, 2026.
