A memorial service for Billy Joe "Bo" Laird, 87, of Farmerville, La., will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2022 at Farmerville United Methodist Church in Farmerville, La. with Rev. Hank Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2022 at Farmerville United Methodist Church in Farmerville, La. prior to the memorial service.
"Bo" Laird, born December 11, 1934, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022. Bo was a graduate of Crowville High School. After high school, he attended Northeast Louisiana State College where he earned his Master's degree plus thirty. Bo also played baseball as a pitcher for four years while in college and was voted Most Valuable Player (MVP) for two of these years. After he graduated from Northeast Louisiana State College, he coached all sports and taught school at Louisiana Training Institute where he retired in 1990.
Bo was married to the love of his life, Betty, and was a faithful husband to his wife for over 59 years. Bo enjoyed crappie fishing, bird hunting, and living on Lake D'Arbonne, and he especially loved his dogs, Lucy, Muttley, and his special pet, Reba. Bo was also a faithful member of Farmerville United Methodist Church. Mr. Bo was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
Bo is survived by his daughters, Lisa Laird (Ira Spar) and Laura Laird Malone (James); grandson, Benjamin Spar; granddaughters, Stephanie Malone Wheeler (Josh) and Kelsey Malone Ferguson (Corey); great-grandchildren, Maci, Jessa, Arlea, Earyn, Avery, Mason, and Elayna; along with other family members and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, Betty Hixson Laird; parents, Bill and Anna Laird; mother, Neva Mathis; sister, Peggy Emfinger; and brothers, Johnny Mathis and Arthur Mathis.
Donations in memory of Bo may be made to the organization of your choice.
