Funeral services for Billy Joe Dixon, 80, of Linville will be held at 10:00am, Friday, October 26, 2018 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rubin Weaver and Bro. Bubba Hoggatt officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty cemetery near Linville under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.
Mr. Dixon went to his heavenly home on October 24, 2018. Mr. Dixon was a resident of Union Parish since 1968 and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force from October 1, 1963 until September 21, 1967. He loved and cherished his son and grandchildren and was always known as the life of the party. He retired from the Thermatic Plant in Sterlington. Mr. Dixon enjoyed farming, tending to his cows and dealing in real estate. He was also very proud of his 1963 Chevrolet Impala.
Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his parents, Hezzie & Myra Braddock Dixon; and one brother, Elvin Dixon.
Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Faye Ford Dixon; one son, Steven M. Dixon (Toshia); two grandchildren, Brandon Lee Dixon (Meghan) and Sara Marie Broussard (Ryan); five special grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Laney and Rance Broussard, Mary Ella, Maddie Joe and Myra Dixon; one sister, Willie Graves & (Wiley); and a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mark Graves, Rodney Graves, Ryan Broussard, Lanny Parker, Jody Cook and Mike Thurston.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buster Maxey, John Dru Taylor and Wiley Graves.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville.
The family would like to give thanks to Jordan Hospice Service and our special sitters, Connie Wallace and Chester Williams. Also, the family would like to thank Dr. Benjamin Weinberger, Dr. Frank Weinholt and Dr. Keith Calhoun.
