A memorial service for Betty Hixson Laird, 79, of Farmerville will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Farmerville United Methodist Church with Rev. Hank Hamilton officiating and under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Mrs. Laird, a retired court reporter, went to her heavenly home October 2, 2017. She was a member of Farmerville United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed traveling, having made several trips to the Holy Land and abroad. Taking care of others and tending to stray animals brought her great pleasure.

Preceding her in death were her parents: W.O. "Ottis" and Bessie Grant Hixson.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 59 3/4 years, Billy Joe "Bo" Laird of Farmerville; 2 children: Dr. Lisa A. Laird (Ira Spar) of Farmington, CT and Laura Laird Malone (Jim) of Farmerville; grandchild: Benjamin Spar of Boston, MA; step-grandchildren: Stephanie M. Jordan and Kelsey M. Ferguson; 7 great grandchildren: 1 sister, Mary Ann McClain of Slidell, LA; numerous nieces, nephews & cousins; and many friends.

Visitation will be 12:30pm-3:00pm Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Farmerville United Methodist Church, the Union Parish Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
