Funeral services for Betty J. Burrell Avant will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Davis officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral service. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Calhoun, La.

Betty J. Avant, 69, of Farmerville, La. was born April 11, 1949 in Springhill, La. She passed away on June 4, 2018 in West Monroe, La. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. John D. Burrell and Mrs. Eva S. Burrell, and her brother, Johnny W. Burrell.

A special and unique creation of God, she served the Lord as a member of Franklin Street Baptist Church. She graduated from Springhill High School and La Tech University.

Betty is survived by her husband, Laurence Avant and daughter, Jessica A. Smith; sisters, Mrs. Christine B. Beach and husband Walter of West Monroe, La. and Mrs. Frances Doty and her husband Phil of Columbus, Ms.; a beloved niece, Debra Beach; nephew Tim Beach, his wife Molly and children Kelsea and Bella; and nephew Jason Doty; along with a host of beloved cousins and friends.

Pallbearers are Jason Doty, Tim Veach, Michael Avant, Marvin Avant, Larry Avant, and Phillip Doty.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Ewing and the staff at La. Extended Care Hospital, and Alpha Care Home Health for the compassionate care during her recent illness.
