Funeral services for Barbara Jean Pilgreen, 85, of Bernice, Louisiana, will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville, Louisiana. Rev. Luke Hockenjos and Rev. Jeff Roberts will officiate. Interment will follow at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery, Bernice, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, also at the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel.
Barbara was born on April 21, 1941, to Tommy and Vivian Grafton Green in Bernice, Louisiana. She Entered her heavenly home on September 12, 2026, after a lengthy illness and brave fight against multiple myeloma.
Barbara was preceded in death by husband, Billy Joe and Daughter Laura Jo Pilgreen; parents, Tommy and Vivian Grafton Green; in-laws, Ellis and Audrey Pilgreen; niece, Lisa Marsh; brothers in law, Johnny Marsh and Bobby Kelley; niece in law, Mary Kelly.
Barbara was survived by her brother, Larry Green and wife Nita; sisters, Nancy Marsh, Janette Kelly, Connie Gerety and husband Robby ;nieces, Susan Noles, Ginger Murphey and Melanie Gerety; nephews, Alan Kelley, Greg Green, Wes Marsh and Matt Gerety; brother in law James Pilgreen; sister in law Patsy Petersen; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a member of Mt. Sterling Baptist Church, Bernice, Louisiana where she faithfully served her Lord her entire life. She was a generous, loving lady who lived her faith daily by the life she lived. Barbara retired from the Union Parish Clerk of Court office in 1999. She found great joy in her daily walks along her country road with her two rescue animals, Heidy and Butch, her beloved dogs.
Serving as pallbearers are Greg Green, Colby Green, Alan Kelley, Glenn Hutto, Brandon Noles, Gary Noles and Ken Telford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Sterling Baptist Church, Bernice, Louisiana; St. Jude Research Hospital; Give 'Em Jesus Ministry; Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or The American Cancer Society.
