Richard Winston Farrar

Funeral services for Richard Winston Farrar, age 73 of Lillie, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Union Grove Baptist Church in Lillie, LA with Bro. Ken Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Union Grove Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Richard loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson Bhrett whom he always referred to as "Big Boy." He graduated from Spearsville High School in 1971. He was employed at Delek in ElDorado, Arkansas from 1991 and retired after 31 years in 2020. He also worked construction and could run any piece of equipment. There was nothing he couldn't build or make. He loved working in the garden and planted many trees. He made several ox yokes that he was extremely proud of. He enjoyed his yearly crow hunts with his son. He enjoyed taking road trips with his wife. There were several family trips to Colorado, both he and his daughter loved it there. He enjoyed when his daughter-in-law made barbecued ribs and always stated they tasted just like his mother's. He made many lifelong friends growing up in the community and working at Delek. He was a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan and enjoyed watching footage of their old concerts. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Lillie Louisiana. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather he went to be with the Lord August 19th 2026.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow W. and Ida Lee Tucker Farrar; sister, Diane Farrar; mother and father-in-law, Sue Rhodes and John Coy Bennett; niece, Velvet Bennett Roberts; and good friend, Dickie Majors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 plus years, Lydia Sue Bennett Farrar; daughter, Rebecca Lee Farrar; son, Daniel Wesley Farrar (Cambry); grandson, Bhrett Winston Farrar; brother, Woodrow W. “Bud” Farrar, Jr. (Carol); sisters, Cindy Nichols (Ted) and Camille Deason (Mark); brother, Van Bennett (Donnette); special niece and nephew, Andrea Lawson and Wayne Deason; and numerous other family members.

Pallbearers will be Zack Dudley, Wayne Deason, Rudy Waller, George Daniels, and Johnny Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Lowrey, Johnny Vestel, David Murphey, Ted Nichols, Corky Henderson, and Bruce Henderson.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM, prior to the service, at Union Grove Baptist Church, Saturday, August 22, 2026.

The family would like to thank the doctors who cared for Richard during this difficult time, Dr. Clifton Salmon, Dr. Derrick Middleton, Dr. Scott Haynes, and Dr. David Tyler.
