Patsy Sue Ogden Saunders met King Jesus on May 29, at the age of 89. She was surrounded by her family. The day was filled with stories and songs of comfort.

Patsy was the beloved daughter of the late William R. Ogden and Lillie Odessa Ogden. Sister of the late Edna Albritton and William Paul Ogden. Wife of the late James T. Saunders for 61 years.

She attended Spearsville Schools where she excelled in academics, basketball, and softball receiving many hours. After graduating Valedictorian/Salutatorian from Spearsville High School she married James T. Saunders. They spent the next couple of years traveling to different Air Forces bases. Two children were born and Pat dedicated herself to homemaking for the next ten years. She began working at Tri-Ward Clinic in Bernice where she eventually became Business Manager. During this time, she was also a substitute mail carrier in Spearsville. After some 20 years, she became a full-time rural mail carrier.

Patsy was a member of First Baptist Church of Spearsville. She was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. Those ladies were near and dear to her heart.

As a mother and grandmother, she loved cooking for her family. She was known for her hot water cornbread, sugar toast, spaghetti sauce, and squirrel n gravy. Her family of four ate together every night of the work week. That was a special time of sharing the days events. Patsy was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and candle wicking.

Patsy is survived by her two children, Cheryl Rene' Futrell (Trae) and Bill Saunders (Kim); grandchildren, Derrick Thomas (Elizabeth), Darby Lawless (Kevin), Dannon Thomas (Taylor), and Jenny Dawsey (Corey); and her great grandchildren, Cameron, Emory, Eastyn, Eden, Evie, Emmie, Tyler, and Jordan (Julie).

A private graveside service was held Saturday June 6, 2026 at Spearsville City Cemetery in Spearsville, LA.
