Goldamehl B. “Goldie” Gray, age 90, of Farmerville, Louisiana, passed away on October 13, 2026. Known lovingly as Mamaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Goldie lived a life rooted in faith, family, and strength. Born on January 20, 1936, to Willie B. and Lillie Mae Brantley, Goldie grew up in the Church of Christ, where her father served as a preacher. She remained strong in her faith throughout her life and never missed a Sunday at church.
Funeral services for Goldamehl will be held at Cross Roads Church of Christ at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Taylor Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, prior to the service, at Cross Roads Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the care of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA.
Goldie loved collecting dishes and anything pretty adorned with roses. She was a wonderful cook, and her family will always remember her hot water cornbread as the best they ever tasted. She loved telling stories of the old days and had a funny country saying for just about any situation. One of her favorites was “hanging in there like a goat on a rock mountain,” words that captured her determination and spirit.
Independent and strong, Goldie was deeply loved and admired by her family and friends. Her granddaughter remembers her as one of the strongest women she has ever known. Her stories, humor, and the memories made around her table will remain close to her family’s hearts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Gray; her only son, Jimmy Gray; her parents, Willie B. and Lillie Mae Brantley; and her five brothers, William Don “Donrae” Brantley, Joe Arvin “Buddy” Brantley, Jordan “Jurd” Brantley, Theron Larkin Brantley, and Gale Wright “Hoss” Brantley.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Brenda Totty; her grandchildren, Nicole Williams and Amanda Gray; her great-grandchildren, Parker Keith Gray, Mallory Mobley, and Everly Mobley; her sisters-in-law, Maureen DeBruin and Judy Gray; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
