Douglas Wayne Martin

Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Wayne Martin, age 76 of Downsville, LA, will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Rubin Weaver and Bro. David Byrnes officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Douglas was a graduate of Central High School in Baton Rouge, LA. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force. Following his service in the Air Force, Douglas worked in sales at a California Fertilizer Company, in the security department of Sears in Monroe, LA, and sales at LKQ. He enjoyed landscaping, playing frisbee with Bullet, his faithful canine, and supporting his children and grandchildren in cheer competitions and sporting events. Douglas was an avid supporter of West Monroe High School. He was also a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Martin and Polly Maxine Martin Hartzog; and his sister, Sandra Nugent.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Peggy Johnston Martin; sons, Jody Patton (Dundy) and Chad Patton (Melissa); daughter, Michele Charlson (David); five grandchildren, Kaitlyn Spillers (Bruce), Isabella Patton, Brooklyn Patton, Austin Patton, and Jacob Muscarella; two great grandchildren, Kallen Joe Spillers and Kasen Wayne Spillers; brother, Jerry Hartzog (Jean); sister, Rhonda Martin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank M.D. Anderson Cancer Center staff, nurses, Dr. Ghattas, Elara Caring Home Health, Roxie Patton, and Ashley Rodgers for all there love and support during this difficult time.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Patton, Trey Patton, Bruce Spillers, Josh Hartzog, Jason Hartzog, and Michael Nugent.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, prior to the service, Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Antioch Baptist Church.
