Funeral services for Bobby Joe Oliver, age 91 of Bernice, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 10, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Bernice, LA. Bro. Reagan Colvin will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Patrick Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.
Bobby Joe was a graduate of Bernice High School. At an early age he began his trucking career hauling cattle with his best friend, Earl Gaar. After that, Bobby starting his long-haul trucking. While trucking thru Conway, AR, he met his wife at a little Café and they were married for 56 years. Bobby Joe was a family man and he believed in raising his family in church. Early in life he was a member of Mt. Patrick Baptist Church and later became a member of First Baptist Church in Bernice. He loved his family deeply and was cherished by all his family and friends. Bobby Joe was a veteran who served during the Korean War.
Bobby Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Alice R. Oliver; parents, Samuel Enis Oliver and Alma Josephine Rogers Tabor; daughter, Suzette Marie Oliver; sister, Jeanette Tubbs; and brother, Bill Tabor.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele Oliver Maxey (Reggie); sons, Terry Joe Oliver (Shirley) and Christopher Lane Oliver (Chas); sister, June Cantrell (Randy); brother, Paxton Oliver; grandchildren, Paul Oliver (Winter), Keith Oliver, Ashlie Martin (Jim), Mark Maxey, Nick Maxey, Devin Bradshaw, Grace DeCou (Michael), and Beaux Oliver; great grandchildren, Lexi Frasier (Tanner), Lane Oliver, Keeton Oliver, Rylie Ann Martin, Allie Jo Martin, Trey Martin, Logan Bradshaw, Kennedy Bradshaw, Parker Bradshaw, and Michael DeCou, III “Tripp”; two great great grandchildren, Lennon Frasier and Addie Frasier; and many nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Joe’s grandsons, Paul Oliver, Keith Oliver, Jim Martin, Mark Maxey, Nick Maxey, Devin Bradshaw, Michael DeCou, and Beaux Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be his mens Sundy school class.
Visitation will be held at 12:30 PM, prior to the service, Saturday, October 10, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Bernice.
The family would like to thank the staff at Reeves Memorial Medical Center for their loving Christian care.
